I have started asking young people (those apparently under 45): “whatever happened to ‘you’re welcome?'”
The usual response is a blank stare, but sometimes we engage in snappy dialogue:
” You’re wha??” or “Whassat mean?” or “Oh you’re one of thse oldsters like my parents…I get busted by them too.” Bob Johnson 55
