On Thursday, October 25th, Bowdoin’s Multicultural Alumni Network of New York (BMAN) hosted a career panel and reception at the Centre for Social Innovation. Quinn Rhi ’15 moderated the panel, which was composed of Gwendolyn Stretch-Holmes ’75 (medicine), Anand Marri ’95 (education), Jennifer Montalvo ’04 (finance), and Olivia Kim ’10 (law). The panelists were vulnerable, witty, and balanced in their assessment and explanation of their careers and their journey towards building reliable networks, learning to believe in themselves, and fighting for what they want. The audience was engaged throughout the discussion and very few minutes passed without a chuckle. After the question and answer session that followed the discussion, panelists and alumni stayed to chat more and exchange contact information. Younger and more seasoned alumni expressed appreciation for the forum to discuss such matters and felt they gained something valuable from the conversation and connections made that night. Many thanks to Mitsuki Nishimoto ‘17, Diamond Walker ’17, and Quinn Rhi ’15 for the time and energy they dedicated to this event.
