Singer and guitarist Max Garcia Conover ’09, and Peter McLaughlin ’10 and Henry Jamison ’10, two-thirds of the indie rock band the Milkman’s Union, have more in common than just their alma mater. Both are up-and-coming acts with upcoming releases, both have gigs in Maine this week, and both have seen their music described as “lush” in recent reviews.
The Bangor Daily News writes of the “lush, complex indie rock” of the Milkman’s Union, while a write-up on performance venue One Longfellow Square’s website extolls the virtues of Conover’s “lyrically and melodically lush poet songs.”
Conover, chosen as one of the best new songwriters in the northeast by the NPR/Mountain State New Song Contest, opens for David Berkeley Thursday, Oct. 13, at One Longfellow Square in Portland.

With two albums under their collective belt and a tour of the northeast that includes shows in New York City and Montreal, the Milkman’s Union is performing Friday, Oct. 14, at the Nocturnem Draft Haus in Bangor.
Good work by Max Garcia Conover!
