Slideshow: Sen. George J. Mitchell ’54 Speaks on Campus Upon Launch of Oral History Project Archives

Coinciding with the launch of the George J. Mitchell Oral History Project, Sen. Mitchell, of the Class of 1954, came back to campus Monday. After meeting with the 21 Mitchell Scholars who are here at Bowdoin and a dinner in his honor in Smith Union, Mitchell spoke before a capacity crowd in Pickard Theater.

He talked about his experiences in the Middle East, the importance of education and his scholarships, and shared memories of his time at the College. “I’ve had a lot of luck in my life,” said Mitchell. “One of the luckiest days of all was when I walked onto the Bowdoin College campus.
