At its recent 2018 gala, EqualityMaine, a statewide LGBT advocacy organization, presented Bowdoin junior Lex Horwitz with an award for outstanding volunteer service to the organization.
“As development intern at EqualityMaine, Lex planned and executed EQME’s first Dine OUT for Equality event last summer,” EqualityMaine printed on the gala’s program. “Under Lex’s leadership, Dine OUT was a resounding success with 44 participating restaurants in 17 towns and cities across the state. This one-day event raised $15,000! Lex managed all of the logistics of the event including outreach, sign-ups, day-of coordination and marketing.”
Horwitz, who is majoring in psychology and gender, sexuality, and women’s studies, and minoring in anthropology, was also credited with helping EqualityMaine’s work to end conversion therapy.
Great job, Lex! Very impressive! Onward and upward!
