Native American Heritage Month starts this year with a talk by Maria Girouard, a Penobscot historian, activist, and educator. She’ll be speaking on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. in the Shannon Room. Other events include a talk about King Philip’s War by Lisa Brooks, an English and American studies professor at Amherst College, a student dinner, and a screening of the film Dawnland.
The month is sponsored by the Native American Student Association, Student Center for Multicultural Life, the Peary-MacMillan Arctic Studies Center, Bowdoin College library, and the academic departments of anthropology and Romance languages and literature.
