More than eighty people connected to Bowdoin marched in the New York City Pride March this weekend, following big showings from Bowdoin alumni, students, faculty, staff, and parents at recent pride events in Boston, Portland, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.
Across the five cities, more than 200 Bowdoin folks came out to celebrate with their Bowdoin T-shirts (which came in all sizes, including onesies for babies) and rainbow flags.
Along with Bowdoin’s Sexuality, Women and Gender Center and many alumni volunteers, Associate Director of Alumni Relations Lindsey Lessard helped organize the Bowdoin contingents.
“A highlight in Portland was seeing Shane Diamond ’10 emcee the Portland Pride Parade,” Lessard added. “Bowdoin received a special shout-out and some extra loud cheers as the group marched by Congress Square Park.”
Great to see so much Bowdoin Gay Pride on display from sea to shining sea. A shout out to my classmate Lou Briasco in SF. Looking forward to dusting off my “thirsty boots” and marching again at the observance of the 50th anniversary of Stonewall.
