Bowdoin’s Rudalevige Describes Doug Jones Alabama Victory as Unique Archives

Writing in US News and World Report, opinion editor James Warren urged people not to read too much into Doug Jones’s Senate victory in Alabama over GOP candidate Roy Moore.

A number of unique factors contributed to this outcome, argued Warren, who quotes a number of experts, including Thomas Brackett Reed Professor of Government Andrew Rudalevige.

“I”m torn on this—I think it’s pretty sui generis,” said Rudalevige of the Jones victory. “On the one hand, the message to Republican candidates/consultants/voters is simply: don’t be a child molester/don’t work for a child molester/don’t vote for a child molester.”
