Three students who spent a semester studying away in Japan and two students who traveled to Japan over the winter break shared their experiences with Japanese language students during Japanese language table.
Valeria Magallan ’19 spent the fall semester in Kyoto, Japan with the Kyoto Consortium for Japanese Studies (KCJS), a program for undergraduates interested in Japanese language and Japanese studies.
Emlyn Knox ’19 spent her fall semester at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan. She participated in various activities including martial arts.
Stephen Leventhal ’19 also spent his fall semester at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan. Stephen is a math major and Japanese minor.
Melisssa Miura ’19 was chosen to participate in the Kakehashi Project, coordinated by the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) and the Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE), and supported by funding from the Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She met with government officials, stayed with a host family, and visited Tokyo and Ehime, Japan.
Harry Hu ’21 spent part of his winter break in Japan. He went skiing in northern Japan and spent time in Tokyo viewing contemporary art exhibitions.
