Thirty years after coming to Bowdoin, Roger Howell Jr. Professor of History Allen Wells taught his final class on May 8, 2018. Colleagues joined students to wish him a happy retirement and present him with flowers and other gifts.
Wells, who specializes in Latin American studies, confessed to being a little embarrassed and lost for words, something he said does not happen very often. He paid tribute to his colleagues and his students, and described his three decades at Bowdoin as an “amazing experience.”
Congratulations to Prof. Wells! We are delighted and grateful that he fanned the sparks of inquiry and guided the happy scholarly pursuits of our soon-to-be Bowdoin grad!
