For the third year in a row, Casey Blossom ’13 – with help this year from Anna Tachau ’12 and Louise Johnson ’14 – has organized the Grassroot Soccer tournament, which raises money for its non-profit namesake to harness the power of soccer to educate youth in sub-Saharan Africa about HIV and AIDS. Thirty-eight three- and five-member teams, comprising some 200 students, took to Pickard Field Saturday for fast-paced games on miniature fields. Fifteen percent of the proceeds went to the Frannie Peabody Center in Portland, which provides comprehensive HIV and AIDS services.
