Despite the chilly, damp conditions in Brunswick this morning, over 400 swimmers, cyclists, and runners hauled themselves out of bed before dawn and made their way to Farley Field House for the 10th anniversary Polar Bear Triathlon, founded and produced by Will Thomas ’03 and his multi-sport production company Tri-Maine, and co-sponsored by Bowdoin Athletics.
The latest edition of Bowdoin magazine features an article about Will and how he paired an entrepreneurial spirit with a hardcore athletic drive to start a new campus tradition and a niche company in Bowdoin’s backyard.
Furthering the Polar Bear connection, Tri-Maine paired up this year with Jeremy Litchfield ’99 and his sustainable sportswear company, Atayne, to provide 100% recycled shirts to all the race competitors and volunteers.
