To reach its goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2020, Bowdoin in 2009 developed a detailed Climate Action Plan. As part of this plan, Bowdoin installed a cogeneration system at its campus steam plant. In its first full year of operation, the system produced 1,076,000 kilowatt hours or roughly six percent of Bowdoin’s electricity.The new system was featured in a recent issue of District Energy magazine.
