Colleges Selling Art: Museum Advocates Fight Back (Inside Higher Ed) Archives

Last year, to the horror of many in the art world, Brandeis University announced that it intended to shut the Rose Art Museum and sell its entire 6,000-piece collection in order to bolster the University’s finances. The outcry was so intense that Brandeis backed away from those plans, but the whole episode proved to be a wake-up call for museum advocates who are not waiting for a similar announcement somewhere else.
