While Earth Day doesn’t officially arrive until Sunday, April 22, students were out in force Friday to begin the observation early and raise awareness about environmental responsibility. Students tie-dyed reusable lunch bags and baked cookies in a solar oven, and the Yellow Bike Club offered free bike tune-ups. And while digging through other people’s garbage would otherwise have shady, if not unpleasant, undertones, it was enlightening for those watching a trash audit that identified items that could instead be recycled.
Bowdoin is continually environmentally conscious as it pursues carbon neutrality by 2020.
