Representing the United States, Kelsey Abbott ’00 finished 15th in the women’s 30-34 category at the International Triathlon Union’s World Triathlon Series in Auckland, New Zealand, in October. Abbott finished the sprint-distance triathlon in 1:19:16. Earlier in August, she finished third in her age category at the national triathlon championships in Burlington, Vermont, which qualified her for the world championships. Abbott, a standout swimmer and water polo player for the Polar Bears, discovered the thrill of triathlons in graduate school. She’s a science writer and certified trainer and coach for The Sustainable Athlete.
