President Barry Mills and his wife, Administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration Karen Mills, spoke before hundreds of New England opinion leaders convened by the New England Board of Higher Education at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston for the recent conference, Locally and Regionally Engaged: New England Colleges and Universities as Drivers of Innovation, Workforce and Economic Development.
President Mills lent his insights to a panel discussion of colleges and universities as anchor institutions in their greater communities. Karen Mills presented a talk on the future of small businesses in New England and higher education’s role in fostering and supporting small- and medium-sized enterprises.
