Video: Meaningful Celebrations Bring ‘Joanie’ Back to Boston Marathon Archives

 

Thirty-three years after her first Boston Marathon win, Joan Benoit Samuelson ’79 is back on the course she knows so well – running with her daughter as they celebrate major milestones. “This year is the 40th anniversary of women being allowed to run in the Boston Marathon and the 40th anniversary of Title IX [the 1972 U.S. anti-discrimination legislation that led to equal female participation in high school and college sports],” says Benoit Samuelson in an ESPN article written by Tom Lakin ’07.
