Slideshow: Swim and Track Teams Face Off in 10th Annual Aquathalon Archives

The track and swim teams faced off at the 10th annual Aquathalon, held at the pool and indoor track Tuesday evening. This year, the swimming portion kicked off first: both the men’s and women’s teams had to swim 200 yards and then race to the track to run a mile. Thirty-three athletes participated, cheered on by 120 spectators.

Victors this year were both swim teams, which typically dominate the event. After 10 years, the swim teams lead the series 17 to 3, according to Track and Cross Country Coach Peter Slovenski. “I try to get our team to train more often in the pool,” Slovenski said. “But our runners have such dense muscle mass that they sink.”
