Senator George J. Mitchell (Bowdoin Class of 1954) returned to his alma mater on Monday for the official launch of The George J. Mitchell Oral History Project organized by the Bowdoin Library. The former senate majority leader addressed a full house in Pickard Theater, offering his thoughts on a variety of subjects, including Middle East peace, the “Arab Spring,” the importance of higher education, public service, and partisan politics, among others.
