Someone on campus has set up a Facebook page, Bowdoin Compliments, to allow people to be anonymously nice to one another. While the creator of the site remains a secret, he or she has written, “Papers and finals are looming, the sun sets at four, and it’s cold. It’s a stressful time of year for people, and everyone could use a little pick-me-up. Bowdoin Compliments is a way to spread a little love and happiness to people.”
People who receive compliments are tagged. The most recent compliment is a shout out to Jared Littlejohn ’15, who is told, “You are one of the friendliest and welcoming people, and your genuine caring for those around you really makes a difference!”
Robbie Harrison ’14 gets described as “one of the sweetest, funniest, generous, and most genuine souls I’ve ever had the pleasure of encountering. He makes me want to be nice to people.” And Aiden J. Reis ’14 receives this endorsement: “I admire your courage, your passion, and your commitment to being an activist at Bowdoin and beyond. I’m so lucky to have you as a friend!” And there are many, many more tributes on the page.
