Earth Science Women’s Network Spotlights Bowdoin Professor Archives

michele-lavigne-2014-1An organization that promotes the careers of women in the geosciences has profiled Michèle LaVigne, an assistant professor of earth and oceanographic science. LaVigne said her students nominated her for the honor. In their write-up, they described her as an “excellent professor who prioritizes teaching and mentoring while also conducting new and exciting research…. She is a great role model for young women in science.”

LaVigne’s research focuses on marine biogeochemistry and paleoceanography, looking at “how global climate change has affected marine biogeochemical cycling in the recent past using corals and how it will impact ocean acidification and marine biological responses in the future.” Read the ESWN profile.
