Transom, a mural by Mark Wethli, Bowdoin’s A. LeRoy Greason Professor of Art, was the backdrop for President Barack Obama’s visit to the Portland Museum of Art Friday. The president is on the left in this image composed by Wethli to show both the event and the mural in its entirety. Wethli painted Transom for the 2003 Portland Biennial Exhibition. PMA curators liked the colorful 13′ x 34′ mural so much, they asked if they could keep it up.
