A Taste of India – Guest Chefs from local Indian Restaurant Enrich Moulton Union Meal Archives

Bombay Plate

On Thursday evening, November 12, Moulton Union dining hall welcomed Raj Sharma, owner of Brunswick’s Bombay Mahal restaurant, and his son, Sumit, who served several ethnic Indian dishes to hungry Bowdoin students as part of Dining’s on-going guest chef series.

The two set up a colorful and fragrant display of Chana Masala (northern Indian chickpea stew), Butter Chicken (yogurt-marinated chicken in a mild curry sauce), Vegetable Pakoras (chick pea fritters), assorted Chutneys, Raita, and Maine Blueberry Lassi (sweetened yogurt drink). The lines were out the door!

Raj and his wife, Bina, first opened their doors at 99 Maine Street in 1991. Their restaurant specializes in northern Indian cuisine and is a convenient and cozy place to enjoy delicious mulligatawny, samosas and rikki tikki tavi. Bombay Mahal offers a 10% discount to Bowdoin students.
