Runner and skier Ellis Boal ’66 of Charlevoix, Michigan, kicked and glided his way past lifetime mile 75,000 at the end of December. This is more than three times around the Earth, peteoskynews.com points out. And Boal doesn’t plan to stop soon: His new goal is to reach 100,000 miles by age 81.
When Boal was a student at Bowdoin College, he was told by the track and cross-country coach that he was a natural runner. Boal went on to run for Bowdoin, and distinguished himself as an athlete in indoor track and cross-country, as well as in Nordic skiing.
