A local film about a 1941 Maine marine disaster will be broadcast on a local television station on the 100th anniversary of the Titanic tragedy. MPBN will air GONE: The Mystery of the DON Disaster at 10 p.m. April 12, and again at 11 a.m. April 14. The Titanic hit an iceberg the night of April 14, 1912, and sank a few hours later.
The film tells the true story of 34 people who died in one of New England’s worst boating accidents. All aboard were lost and the wreck was never found. GONE was produced by Dave Wilkinson ’67 and Marilyn Taylor in Harpswell, where the doomed power cruiser departed. Taylor and Wilkinson also produce MPBN’s Emmy-nominated weekly show incredibleMAINE.
