Students, staff and faculty across campus wore yellow shirts yesterday to show solidarity with Bowdoin’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex or questioning members.
Bowdoin students have been wearing yellow one day each fall ever since a speaker came to campus in 2005 to speak about his effort to prevent the state from protecting people from discrimination based on their sexual orientation. Students silently protested his views by wearing yellow to his talk.
Yellow Shirt Day is part of Bowdoin Queer Straight Alliance’s Out Week.
