Alumni donors — and a massive effort by alumni volunteers — helped push BowdoinOne Day well past its goal of collecting 1,300 gifts.

On April 22, 2014, alumni made 1,591 gifts totaling more than $272,000.

This is the second year in a row Bowdoin’s Alumni Fund volunteers sought to raise gifts from their classmates in one day to celebrate the impact such gifts have on the College.

Also notable on this BowdoinOne Day:

  • 104 Polar Bears made their first-ever gift to the Alumni Fund
  • 127 lapsed donors came back into the fold
  • Alumni tagged 337 photos with #BowdoinOneDay on Instagram
  • Alumni tweeted 460 times about #BowdoinOneDay

The success of BowdoinOne Day is due in no small part to Bowdoin’s 600-person strong Alumni Volunteer corps.

“The outcome of BowdoinOne Day was a direct result of strong collaboration between all those who work on behalf of the Alumni Fund, and especially of the efforts of our volunteers,” says Director of Annual Giving Brannon Fisher.

“Without them, the day would not have been nearly as successful as it was.”

BowdoinOne Day positions Bowdoin well as it strives to reach 60% Alumni Fund participation by the end of the fiscal year, June 30, 2014, something very few colleges and universities have accomplished.

“With the continued efforts of our Alumni Fund volunteers and our development staff, I’m confident we’ll have much to celebrate come July,” said Fisher.
