Awards honoring outstanding leadership and service to the College will be presented May 30, 2015, during Reunion Convocation.
This year the Bowdoin College Board of Trustees has selected two recipients of the Common Good Award — Dr. Donald Krogstad ’65, who has devoted his career as a physician and researcher to finding ways to contain and fight malaria, and Mary Ann Villari ’75, a commercial real estate attorney-turned-housing advocate who has channeled her expertise into furthering the mission of a pioneering nonprofit organization dedicated to creating affordable housing.
The Distinguished Educator Award and Alumni Service Award, chosen by the Alumni Council, recognize members of the Bowdoin community for their exemplary achievement and dedication. Distinguished Educator Awards will be presented to longtime Lewiston High School Latin teacher Bernard Fortier ’79 and to Cheryl Foster ’83, an award-winning philosophy professor and advocate for access and enrichment opportunities for first generation college students.
The Alumni Service Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Alumni Council, will be presented to Leo J. Dunn III ’75, whose record of dedication to the College spans more than a quarter-century.
