Calling themselves the Bowdoin Couch to 5k Team, this group of mostly non-runners began training for a 5k (3.1 mile) race.

With help from team leaders David Francis, Richard Hart and Lindsay Lessard — and a special training run with Olympic gold medalist and “marathon matriarch” Joan Benoit Samuelson ’79 —  the group began their training by running for a minute, and built up their stamina until they were able to run the length of a 5k race held Sunday, September 8, in Freeport.
