Assistant Professor of Theater and Dance Abbie Killeen recently offered a public speaking workshop for students in Hubbard Hall. She opened the afternoon session by acknowledging that public speaking is, frankly, terrifying, particularly for those not used to doing it.
Assistant Dean of First Year Students Michael Wood organized the workshop, called “Speech About It,” and asked Killeen to teach some of the skills that are relevant for whatever stage you might happen to be standing on.
This video shows a small portion of the hour-long session, which Killeen focused both on breathing and some psychological tricks that can help public speakers overcome their fears.
