In 2011, for art professor Mark Wethli’s Public Art class, Lucy Walker ’14 developed a design for a hypothetical mural in Brunswick. A year later, she was told the Brunswick Downtown Association had selected her proposal and wanted to commission her piece for a new doctor’s office near the train station. (Tariq Haq ’12 also produced two works he originally developed in Wethli’s 2011 Public Art class, one for the Hannaford grocery store’s outside wall and another for the new elementary school.)
Over the summer, Walker worked on completing her mural, which will be unveiled in the Mid Coast Primary Care and Walk-in Clinic in September. For this video, Walker put down her paintbrush to talk about the process of creating her painting, describing some of the themes that come through her realistic scene of Brunswick people on the town green.
