Creative Chemistry Students Honor the Mole Archives

On Mole Day, Bowdoin chemistry students celebrated the famous chemical measuring unit by creating a legion of festive moles, which are now displayed in the trophy case of Cleaveland Hall. Mole Day is held annually between 6:02 a.m. and 6:02 p.m. on October 23, in honor of the 6.02 x 1023 atoms that make up one mole – the chemical kind, not the burrowing mammal.

The enterprising group of chemist-artisans was made up of students in professor Michael Danahy’s Introductory Chemistry and Organic Chemistry classes.
