On August 12th BCMA Co-Directors Anne Collins Goodyear and Frank H. Goodyear III enjoyed welcoming National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Jane Chu, and Maine Arts Commission Executive Director Julie Richard to the Museum. While there, Chairman Chu and Ms. Richard visited A Mind of Winter: Photographs by Abelardo Morell made possible by a generous grant from the NEA. They also had a chance to see the Museum’s Assyrian reliefs as well as other highlights from the Museum’s permanent collections and special exhibitions. Associate Professor of Art Michael Kolster, Chair of the Department of Art, joined the group to speak to student involvement with the Museum, including second-year Bowdoin student Nevan Swanson’s work with Morell. Also taking part was Linda L. Nelson (Bowdoin ’83), Assistant Director of the Maine Arts Commission, together with members of Congresswoman Chellie Pingree’s staff. For more on the Chairman’s trip to Bowdoin and to Maine, please see Rebecca Goldfine’s article in the Bowdoin News.
