One of the notable aspects of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign has been what The Christian Science Monitor refers to as “the way the blustery billionaire keeps promising to do things that are likely beyond the limits of presidential authority set by the Constitution of the United States.”

Andrew Rudalevige, Bowdoin’s Thomas Brackett Reed Professor of Government, says a Trump presidency might activate a normalization of certain kinds of things.

“The law might not change but the attitude would,” says Rudalevige in the CSM article, “Would Trump presidency threaten rule of law?” informed by the professor’s piece “No, White House lawyers would not prevent a President Trump from overstepping his constitutional bounds” in The Monkey Cage, the Washington Post‘s political science blog.
