Will Ossoff ’15 to Join Carnegie Peace Program Archives

william_ossoffThe Carnegie Endowment for International Peace has chosen Will Ossoff ’15 to be one of its Junior Fellows. Each year, the organization selects 10-12 graduating seniors, from colleges and universities around the country, to work for one year as research assistants to the endowment’s senior associates.

Ossoff, of Andover, Mass., will work with Carnegie’s nuclear policy program. In his application, Ossoff writes that he is worried about the “significant generational gap” in the nuclear policy community even as nuclear weapons and nuclear energy proliferate around the globe. “My peers, even the most politically active ones, are far more interested in other international issues. The security challenges posed by nuclear weapons and energy will require the attention of my generation,” he says.

At Bowdoin, where he is a government major and history minor, Ossoff has maintained a 3.95 GPA and is a Sarah and James Bowdoin Scholar. He has worked as a research assistant to Assistant Professor of History David Hecht, looking into the impact of science on U.S. political discourse in the later half of the 20th century. He is currently working on an honors project analyzing U.S. policymaking in humanitarian crises abroad. Last summer, Ossoff was a security policy intern for Physicians for Social Responsibility in Washington, DC.
