A River Lost and Found: Comparing the James and Androscoggin Rivers

from the Androscoggin (Maine) River Series

These images depict the James River in Virginia. They comprise one chapter of the Androscoggin River project. The Androscoggin and James Rivers are both compromised and historically significant waterways. A comparison of the two considers common ground shared by American rivers. Like the Androscoggin the James presents a rich middle ground between the pristine and the ruined typical of the places many call home.
