Project Description

I. Dataset Summary

For our data, the number of examples are 2913 total (about 29 per 103 countries). There are 21 attributes; of these, 18 are numerical and 3 are categorical. Each row represents a year for a country, given by the "id" field; each country has a unique id based on the UNFAO Country Code. Each row in the following data shows crop yield information for Afghanistan over time. The first row is replicated below in an HTML table.

Within our data, there are a number of different attributes categories:

• id (UNFAO Country Code--FAOSTAT)
• Year from 1975 to 2002
• Tropical or Temperate (0 or 1)
• Yield in metric tons / hectare and millions of kcals / hectare
• Soil score (1 to 5)
• Total cropped area in hectares
• Percentage of cropped area in [crop] (eight crop types) in hectares
• Compositive average temperature (daytime and night time) in Celsius
• Total rainfall over cropped lands during growing season in millimeters
• Fraction of cropped lands equipped for irrigation
• Total money investment in agricultural land development per cropped hectare (2005 USD / hectare)
• Total money investment in agricultrual equipment per cropped hectare (2005 USD / hectare)
• Fertilizer (kg/hectare)
