Living across the street during my youth there were many times I walked the campus. When I did I often stood in front of the hall imagining some of the greats who spent time in the building…Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Franklin Pierce, Joshua Chamberlain, William P. Fessenden just to name a few. And of course, John Cross ’76… Thanks, John for a wonderful article!

Thanks for telling its story.

For which, thank you. Great piece on a fascinating building.

Thanks for continuing to document the heritage of our alma mater.

So often we gaze at one or another of the many lovely structures of the Bowdoin campus and wish “if only the walls could talk” and then continue on our way. You have provided us with a peek into what “they” would say. It certainly whets the appetite to learn so much more.
Thank you so very much.

I can’t wait to revisit Massachusetts Hall and imagine all the architectural changes that have occurred over its life.
