Period. If they are not able to do so while drinking (or using other drugs), they should not drink. Some people are “happy drunks”, while others are aggressive; you need to recognize your own tendencies. I saw both types at Bowdoin and elsewhere over the years. I have known blowhards, bullies, and bums in the Army, in school, in industry, and in other, social settings. People need to confront such bad behavior as it occurs to stop it. It doesn’t take a lot of analysis.
