Iris inspired us students in the 1980s when she would return to campus for alumni panels. I have followed in her footsteps as the second African-American female president of Bowdoin’s Alumni Council. Karen was a first-year when I was president of the Am in 1989-1990; she challenged, pushed and questioned, and made me a better leader. I am so proud to follow her company and its success almost daily on Facebook. Sue and I now work together on the Council, and I have been so impressed by her leadership of its Multicultural Committee. I know she worked hard to help the phenomenal Dean Amaez put this panel together. Congratulations to all.
