At the end of last semester, Bruce Kohorn, Bowdoin’s Linnean Professor of Biology and Biochemistry, delivered the Linnean Professorship of Biology and Biochemistry Inaugural Lecture. Watch the video.
His talk, “From Mountains to Membranes,” describes the mechanisms that create plant cell form and function. Throughout his scholarly lecture, Kohorn weaves in the personal experiences that have given his own life form and function, particularly his adventures hiking, climbing and skiing mountains around the world and his rotten experiences early in his life in the English school system.
Kohorn is a pioneer in the field of plant cell biology, and has made significant discoveries concerning membrane proteins and the communication between the plant cell wall and nucleus.
