Barton Seaver on Empowering Food Economies Archives

Barton Seaver has opened seven restaurants and gained acclaim for his food and his environmentally conscious businesses. Seaver’s passion for serving sustainable foods led him to be named a Seafood Champion by the Seafood Choice Alliance, and a Legend and Leader in ocean conservation by Blue Vision. Barton spearheads initiatives to inform consumers and institutions about how our choices for diet and menus can promote healthier people, secure food supplies, and thriving communities. This event is open to the public free of charge and is part of the Maine Innovation Challenge. The community is welcome to join the following final day events also taking place in Kresge Auditorium:

2:15 – Team presentations to the judges
3:45 – Barton Seaver on “Empowering Food Economies”
4:45 – Announcement of challenge winners

The Challenge: Teams are competing before a panel of judges to pitch a new sustainable business model that improves how we aggregate, process, distribute, and market local food.
