The Northern Bites are south of the border as the robot soccer team participates in the 2012 RoboCup World Championship Games in Mexico City. They won their first game against NTU-Robot-PAL, the team from Taiwan that finished fourth in the world last year, 4-0.

“The conditions were tough in the first half as the wireless router for our field was broken and we couldn’t communicate,” says team advisor and computer science professor Eric Chown. “But we scored two beautiful goals and added two more in the second half.”

The team tied a second game, 1-1, against L3M, which stands for Le Trois Musketeers, a team comprising entrants from three universities in France and Spain. The day’s successes secured the team’s advancement to the round of 16 for the seventh straight year. Visit the Northern Bites blog.
