Bowdoin faculty gathered on Monday evening in Thorne Hall for a dinner to honor, and sometimes poke a bit of affectionate fun at, President Barry Mills and his wife, Karen. Several faculty members thanked Mills for increasing the diversity of the student body, for supporting the arts, and for bringing his warmth and humanity to his job.
Aaron Kitch, associate professor of English, hosted the event and also performed an original blues tribute. Other faculty recited poems, sang songs, and recounted stories about the couple. Mark Wethli, Bowdoin’s A. LeRoy Greason Professor of Art, shared an elaborate photoshopped fantasy of Mills’ future, post-Bowdoin. The video above shows a few highlights from the evening.
