Racer X: Professors by Day, Rock Stars by Night Archives

Eighties cover band and Bowdoin community favorite Racer X rocked Studzinski Recital Hall with an end-of-semester concert.

Beneath the wigs, sunglasses and other crazy attire, two of the four-piece band should cut familiar figures to many Bowdoin students. Tearing it up on guitar and lead vocals was Associate Professor of Music Vineet Shende. English professor Aaron Kitch played keys and also lent a hand on vocals. Completing the outfit were Patrick Cyr on bass and drummer David Morrill.

Guest of honor at the gig was Linda Marquis, senior academic coordinator in the Music Department, who is retiring after more than thirty years at Bowdoin. Click here to see a musical tribute to Linda, sung to the tune of a famous Rolling Stones song.
