On Thursday, July 19, alumni, parents, and friends enjoyed a lovely evening reception on the terrace of the Bowdoin Museum of Art. Attendees were met with perfectly mild weather, delicious hors d’ oeuvres, and the directors of the Museum of Art, Anne and Frank Goodyear. After remarks, alumni were ushered onto three staggered tours of the Winslow Homer exhibition. The exhibition boasts a collection of 130 master paintings, oil studies, drawings, and prints, including several of Homer’s personal items. Museum intern and current student, Havana Maria Caso- Desombet ’20, led the first tour. Assistant Professor of Art History and co-curator of the Homer exhibition, Dana Byrd, led the second tour. Last but not least, Frank Goodyear led the culminating tour. At the end of the event, alumni voiced wander at the fascinating display and applauded the tour guides for their wealth of knowledge and engaging presentation style.
The Winslow Homer exhibition will stay open until Sunday, October 28th. Make sure to visit campus and see it before it is gone!
