On Saturday, April 13, as part of the Portland Conservatory of Music’s 5th Annual Back Cove Contemporary Music Festival, Associate Professor Vineet Shende and the Oratorio Chorale will preview Shende’s new work for chorus and guitar, titled Pravasa: Travels of the Guitar.
Shende will discuss the work, and guitarist Aaron Larget-Caplan and the Chorale will perform selections from the piece, which was commissioned by and for the Oratorio Chorale.
The presentation will take place at 1:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall at the Woodfords Congregational Church and is open to the public.
This year’s festival is directed by Bowdoin Professor Emeritus Elliott Schwartz and PCM faculty member Joshua DeScherer and features Boston-area composer and Tufts University professor John McDonald.
All events on the festival are open to the public free of charge, but donations to benefit the Portland Conservatory are welcome.
