Clowns Without Borders, an international nonprofit arts organization directed by Selena McMahan ’05, is in the middle of touring Haiti to put on shows for children.
McMahan reports, “…we performed in a beautiful but isolated ‘solidarity village’ which housed 17 families, internal refugees who left Port-au-Prince after the earthquake.” In this village the clowns performed for 125 children “surrounded by rolling mountains and glowing light.”
A day later, the volunteer performers visited a school of 900 excitable children who roared with laughter throughout the show, according to McMahan.
Bowdoin published a profile on McMahan and CWB last May.
